Description

This data article presents three dataset’s results related to a laboratory scale 3-axis filament winding machine. The winding performance experimental tests are described in raw data related to winding angle pattern, range, accuracy programmed winding G-codes, and linear and rotation speeds. The real-time winding angle measurement device is developed to detect and measure the winding angle of filament wound carbon-fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) tube, which uses dry and wet winding processes. The real-time measurement experimental tests are described as visual captured images. The i-winder app is designed to operate the winding machine with Bluetooth transmission protocols, which MIT App Inventor uses. The data presented in this article can have a benchmark for developing a multi-axis portable filament winding machine with an inexpensive and open-source control system or embedding the real-time winding angle measurement system.
