This dataset contains individual-level data collected from a case-control study investigating the association between the KCNJ11 rs5219 genetic variant and hypertension among Bangladeshi adults. The study included 174 participants (87 hypertensive cases and 87 gender-matched normotensive controls). The dataset comprises the following categories of variables: Demographic variables: age, sex, education level, and occupation Clinical variables: hypertension status, family history of hypertension, and family history of diabetes Anthropometric variables: body mass index Biochemical parameters: fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial glucose, and serum lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides) Genetic variable: KCNJ11 rs5219 genotype, determined from genomic DNA extracted from peripheral blood samples Here, hypertension was defined according to WHO (2025) criteria as systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg, or current use of antihypertensive medication Reference: WHO.
