Description

This dataset contains anonymized survey data supporting the manuscript "The Sequencing of AI Engagement: Prompt-First AI Use, Reflection, and Perceived Originality Among Indian Professionals." The study includes responses from 549 Indian working professionals and was used to develop and validate the Prompt-First Tendency Scale (PTS-6) and evaluate its associations with independent reflection time and perceived originality using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). No personally identifiable information is included.

Study design: Cross-sectional, anonymous online survey of working professionals in India. Participants: A total of 549 professionals from diverse industries and organizational roles who reported using generative AI for work-related tasks. Participants were recruited using snowball sampling through professional networks and WhatsApp. Data collection: Responses were collected using a structured online questionnaire. The survey included demographic variables, AI-use frequency, independent reflection time, perceived originality, and the six-item Prompt-First Tendency Scale (PTS-6). Participation was voluntary, anonymous, and based on informed consent. Analysis: The PTS-6 was developed and validated using split-sample exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Structural relationships were evaluated using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with 5,000 bootstrap resamples. Supplementary analyses included ANOVA, robustness analyses, and exploratory Classification and Regression Tree (CART) analysis.
