Evaluating nitrogen response and nitrogen-use-efficiency in perennial rice
Description
The two Excel spreadsheets present the two datasets used to prepare the manuscript, "Evaluating nitrogen response and nitrogen-use-efficiency in perennial rice", which has been submitted to the European Journal of Agronomy. The experiment was conducted at Menglian in Yunnan Province of China from 2021 to 2023, comprising 3 Years (Year: 2021, 2022, 2023), 2 Seasons (Sson: Dry Season and Wet Season in each year), with 3 nitrogen (N) timings (Time: 5, 10, 15 days after heading [DAH]), 4 N rates (Rate: 0, 75, 150, 225 kg N/ha) and 3 replicates (Rep), in a split-split design. There were 19 parameters recorded over the complete data set (Raw Data - 2021 to 2023 DS + WS.xlxs). There were 5 Identifiers: Year, Sson, Time, Rate, Rep. There were 7 Phenology/Regrowth observations: Transplant/Cut (TP/CUT) Date, Flowering (FL) Date, Maturity (MT) Date, CUT - FL (d), FL - MT (d), CUT-MT (d), Ratoon (%). There were 4 yield component parameters: Panicles (/m2), Spikelets/panicle, Grains/spikelet (%) and Individual grain Dry Matter (DM; mg). There were 3 growth and yield parameters: Panicle DM (t/ha), Total DM (t/ha) and Grain yield (t/ha). There were (3 Year x 2 Season x 3 Time x 4 Rate x 3 Rep) = 216 cases in total. The second spreadsheet provides the additional N parameters collected in the 2023 WS and 2023 DS only (Raw N Data - 2023 DS + WS only. xlxs). Again there were 19 parameters. The same 5 identifiers. Then 7 parameters representing the absence of applied treatment N applications (N0), comprising 3 above-ground DM components for stem, leaf and panicle; their tissue N concentrations [N], and grain yield (NoYield): Stem DM, Leaf DM, Panicle DM; [N]stem, [N]leaf, [N]panicle; and NoYield. Finally, the same 7 parameters for treatments with N applied (N+): Stem DM, Leaf DM, Panicle DM; [N]stem, [N]leaf, [N]panicle; and N+Yield. As this data set was from 2023 only, there were (1 Year x 2 Seasons x 3 Timings x 4 Rates x 3 Reps) = 72 cases only. Please note that in this data set, there was a control plot (N0) for every matching N treatment (N+). Hence, there were 7 parameters for N0 and 7 for N+.
