Description

This dataset supports the critical review, “The Circadian-Supportive Lighting Triad: A Conceptual Framework and Evidence Map of Applied Human Research.” It contains the final evidence map of applied human research on circadian-supportive light exposure published from January 2015 through December 2025. The dataset includes 647 qualified publications grouped into 583 independent study families. Publications were identified through two complementary pathways: an original multi-database search of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and IEEE Xplore, and a broader supplementary Scopus search. Screening and reconciliation were completed through heuristic and AI-assisted prioritization followed by researcher review, full-text assessment where complete reports were available, and final researcher adjudication. The publication-level workbook contains bibliographic information and coded variables describing study setting, population, design, exposure and intervention categories, measurement location, device and capability, reported light metrics, non-visual outcomes, study-family relationships, and the three domains of the Circadian-Supportive Lighting Triad: 1. Non-Visual Biological Responses 2. Light-Exposure Systems 3. Occupant Engagement The workbook also contains formula-linked statistical summaries and the source tables used to construct the manuscript’s principal results and figures. The accompanying supplementary document provides the complete search strategies, eligibility criteria, screening and reconciliation procedures, coding definitions, study-family rules, robustness analyses, and reporting details. Publication-level percentages use 647 qualified publications as the denominator unless otherwise specified. Study-family analyses use 583 independent study families. Multi-label categories may overlap and therefore may not sum to 100%. Copyrighted article files, copied abstracts, internal review notes, screening logs, and intermediate working materials are not included. For publications whose complete reports could not be obtained, eligibility and available coding were determined from the strongest accessible title, abstract, bibliographic, supplementary, or preserved source information. Fields that could not be verified were retained as not reported rather than inferred.
