Vietnamese Guava
Description
This data article presents a dataset describing the phytochemical composition, antioxidant capacity, and antibacterial activity of ethanolic leaf extracts from three guava taxa collected in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam: Psidium guajava ssp. pyriferum (PG), Emperor guava (EG), and Psidium littorale Raddi (PL). Leaf materials were processed using three extraction procedures-maceration, ultrasound-assisted extraction, and Soxhlet extraction-with ethanol as the extraction solvent. The dataset includes extraction-related parameters, total polyphenol contents, and antioxidant measurements obtained using ABTS, DPPH, and reducing-power assays. Additional data document the antibacterial responses of selected extracts against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains. Phytochemical characterization data for the selected Emperor guava leaf extract are also provided, including gallic acid, flavonoids, and other phenolic constituents by HPLC-UV/PDA and UPLC-MS. The files contain quantitative measurements generated under standardized experimental conditions and enable comparison among guava taxa, extraction techniques, antioxidant assays, and bacterial test organisms. These data can be reused for comparative phytochemical analyses, optimization of plant-extraction procedures, development and validation of predictive models relating extraction conditions to bioactivity, meta-analyses of guava-derived phytochemicals, and the design of future investigations involving plant-based antioxidant and antibacterial materials.
