Description

Data on the low literacy rate among Gen Z shows that this generation tends to have low reading interest and consumes more information from visual media such as short videos on social media. The habit of reading books or articles is declining, replaced by more instant and entertaining content. Furthermore, the ability to comprehend reading and distinguish valid information is also limited. This low literacy rate is influenced by factors such as a lack of early reading habits, the dominance of digital culture, and minimal support from school and family environments. However, the data also shows that Gen Z still has the potential to improve literacy if presented through engaging and interactive media.
