Replication Data for “AI Pilot-Zone Policy Exposure, Automation Intensity, and China’s Urban–Rural Income Gap”

This dataset contains the complete replication materials for the manuscript “AI Pilot-Zone Policy Exposure, Automation Intensity, and China’s Urban–Rural Income Gap.” The package includes the complete balanced panel of 30 Chinese provincial-level regions observed annually from 2006 to 2023, Stata analysis code, spatial weight matrices, variable documentation, policy-exposure dates, reference outputs, and detailed replication instructions. The dataset reproduces the baseline difference-in-differences estimates, employment-structure analyses, event-study analysis, placebo test, propensity-score-matching estimates, robustness checks, regional and structural heterogeneity analyses, panel threshold models, spatial-dependence diagnostics, Spatial Durbin Model estimates, and direct, indirect, and total spatial-effect decompositions reported in the manuscript. The complete analysis panel includes Rob, an author-constructed industry-share-weighted industrial-robot exposure measure derived from IFR World Robotics and employment data. The authors are authorized to redistribute the included derived Rob measure under the licence selected for this repository record. Raw IFR World Robotics source files are not included in the package. Stata 17 or later is recommended. The package can be reproduced by extracting the archive and running run_all.do from the package root. Required user-written Stata commands and additional analytical notes are documented in the accompanying README file.
