Description

we reveal that only 15%–17% of bacterial communities are metabolically active across climatic zones, while tropical forests exhibit fungal activity (23%) far exceeding subtropical counterparts (0.4%). These findings challenge assumptions about microbial functional evenness and highlight fungal dominance in tropical soils.
