Linea alba response to exercise in parous women: research data from a cross-sectional study
Description
This dataset supports the cross-sectional study titled "Immediate Effect of Four Exercises on Linea Alba Thickness, Distortion and Inter-Recti Distance in Parous Women." The study investigated the immediate biomechanical response of the abdominal wall—specifically inter-recti distance (IRD), linea alba thickness, and deformation—during four common abdominal exercises: crunch, abdominal drawing-in maneuver (ADIM), pelvic floor muscle contraction (PFMC), and the de Gasquet basic exercise. Data include ultrasound measurements taken from 54 parous women at both supra- and infraumbilical levels. Measurements comprise IRD, linea alba thickness, and a distortion index, as well as transversus abdominis and internal oblique activation measured using simultaneous ultrasound. The dataset also contains participant metadata such as age, body mass index (BMI), number of deliveries, presence of urinary symptoms, and low back pain severity.
