Description

This database accompanies the article, "Utilization of an ecological thermodynamically dead state at equilibrium as reference for earth observation of climate zone change in the eastern Mediterranean" in review at Science of the Total Environment journal. The database will enable the user to learn to work between data from tasseled cap transformation (TCT) of Landsat 8/9 between 2014-2024, MODIS (MOD08-M3) atmospheric water vapor reserve, and aridity index / meteorological data. The database is developed for the Judean foothill region of Israel in the Ceratonieto-Pistacietum lentisci typicum judaicum (CPLTA-J) vegetation sub-association. Included are 9 steps described in the .pdf file, "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_Thermodynamic Reference State_Climate_Mediterranean_DATA-LIST-INSTRUCTIONS" intended for use with the original spatial data files and the Excel workbook, "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_Thermodynamic Reference State_Climate_Mediterranean.xlsx" and "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_TCT_Monthly_2014-2024.xlsx"

Download the folder "Manspeizer-Karnieli_Climate-2025_Repository-files" Open the .PDF, "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2025_2026_Thermodynamic Reference State_Climate_Mediterranean_DATA-LIST-INSTRUCTIONS" Open the Excel workbooks, "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2025_Ecological-Informatics_REML-Plagioclimax-Mediterranean.xlsx" and "Manspeizer-Karnieli_2026_TCT_Monthly_2014-2024.xlsx" to accompany the exercise Follow the instructions in the .pdf to replicate the research using the original data The spatial database is intended to be used with QGIS software (QGIS.org)
