SSR Genotyping Data and Genetic Distance Matrix of Iranian Garlic Landraces
Description
This dataset contains the molecular data generated for the assessment of genetic diversity, genetic relationships, population structure, and germplasm redundancy among Iranian garlic (Allium sativum L.) landraces. The dataset includes SSR genotyping profiles obtained using eight SSR primer pairs and the corresponding genetic distance matrix used in the analyses. Genetic distances were calculated from the multilocus SSR genotyping data using the "Peakall and Smouse" implemented in GenAlEx. The resulting distance matrix was subsequently used for multivariate and clustering analyses reported in the associated research article.

The dataset was generated from 30 garlic accessions, comprising 29 Iranian landraces collected from different geographical regions of Iran and one Chinese accession. Genomic DNA was extracted from young leaf tissue using a CTAB-based DNA extraction procedure. The DNA samples were genotyped using eight SSR primer pairs previously developed for garlic. PCR amplification products were separated by agarose gel electrophoresis, and SSR genotypes were scored based on the allelic profiles of the accessions. The resulting multilocus SSR allele data were used to assess genetic diversity and relationships among the accessions. Genetic diversity parameters, genetic distance, and analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) were obtained using GenAlEx. The genetic distance matrix was subsequently used for clustering analysis and principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) to evaluate genetic relationships among the accessions. Bayesian population-structure analysis was conducted to investigate potential genetic subdivision, while the relationship between genetic and geographic distances was evaluated using a Mantel test. The deposited files contain the original SSR allele-scoring data and the genetic distance matrix underlying the analyses reported in the associated research article.
