Null Hypothesis (H0) In middle-aged people, there is no significant correlation between the severity of idiopathic knee pain and body mass index (BMI) Alternative Hypothesis (H1) In middle-aged adults, idiopathic knee pain severity is significantly correlated with Body Mass Index (BMI), with higher BMI being linked to more severe pain. The data were collected from 64 middle-aged adults (40–60 years) with idiopathic knee pain using BMI measurements, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS). The findings demonstrated a significant positive relationship between BMI and pain intensity, while a significant negative relationship was observed between BMI and functional performance. Participants with higher BMI reported greater knee pain and poorer lower-extremity function, indicating that excess body weight may contribute to both increased pain severity and reduced functional capacity. These results can be used to support the importance of weight management and physiotherapy interventions in individuals with idiopathic knee pain.

Steps to reproduce

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 64 middle-aged adults (40–60 years) with idiopathic knee pain. BMI was calculated using measured height and weight according to WHO guidelines. Pain intensity was assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and functional status was evaluated using the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS). Data were collected through standardized forms and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25.0 to examine the relationship between BMI, pain intensity, and functional limitation.This is concise and appropriate for the Mendeley Data metadata field.
