Description

This dataset includes two categorical variables (Diag and Sex), Age, and four self-reported measures: Pain intensity, Depression, Anxiety, and Anger. The study aimed to explore negative emotions differential patterns in acute and chronic low back pain (LBP) patients. The three diagnosing groups were (1) acute LBP, (2) chronic LBP, and a healthy pain-free control group (0). The study used Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for exploring potential differential patterns. Anxiety plays the most important role during acute LBP, and depression becomes the main problem after pain chronification. A technical document including algorithms for Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) and Radial Basis Function (RBF) for interested readers is also available.
