Do political regimes shape the resource-inequality nexus? Evidence from global time-frequency analysis
Description
This dataset contains the data, replication files, and analytical instructions required to reproduce the empirical results presented in the associated study. The repository includes the datasets and RStudio/Stata code used to generate the Wavelet Coherence, Partial Wavelet Coherence, Wavelet Power Spectrum, Time-Varying Granger Causality, and Local Projection analyses. The materials cover the main figures and tables as well as the supplementary and appendix results. For the wavelet-based analyses, the repository contains the underlying Excel data files and RStudio instructions for the Wavelet Power Spectrum, Wavelet Coherence, Partial Wavelet Coherence, and country-level Wavelet Coherence analyses. The country-level analyses include data for China, Qatar, Norway, Colombia, Malaysia, and Egypt. The repository also includes Stata do-files and output data for the Time-Varying Granger Causality and Local Projection analyses.

Steps to reproduce
1. Download all datasets, RStudio instruction files, Stata do-files, and output files included in the repository. 2. For the Wavelet Power Spectrum and Wavelet Coherence analyses corresponding to Figures 4-7 and Figures S1-S5, use Data-First.xlsx together with Wavelet Power Spectrum_Rstudio.docx and Wavelet Coherence_Rstudio.docx. Follow the RStudio code and instructions provided in the respective documents. 3. For Partial Wavelet Coherence, particularly Appendix Figure A.2, use the datasets PWC-democracies, PWC-autocracies, and PWC-anocracies. Follow the RStudio code and analytical instructions provided in Partial Wavelet Coherence_Rstudio.docx. 4. For the Time-Varying Granger Causality results, use Granger_causality.do to reproduce Table A.3 and Figure 8. Run the do-file in Stata following the commands provided. 5. For Figure 9, Panel: Local Projection, use local projections.do. The local projection procedure generates a temporary results structure containing the regression output, which is saved as panel_irf.dta. Use the provided file and code to reproduce the reported local projection results. 6. For Figures S6-S8, use the country-specific Excel files for China, Qatar, Norway, Colombia, Malaysia, and Egypt. Follow the RStudio code and instructions in Country_level_Wavelet_Coherence.docx to reproduce the country-level Wavelet Coherence results.
