We found that the gyne of the Asian giant hornet (Vespa mandarinia) died from a fungal infection. An entomopathogenic fungus was isolated from the gyne, which was most likely a species of Beauveria, based on morphological observations. Phylogenetic analysis was carried out to confirm the taxonomic position of the fungus. This dataset is a concatenated alignment of four genomic DNA regions (TEF, PBR1, PBR2 and Bloc) from selected Beauveria fungi, including the fungus that we isolated.

Steps to reproduce
The sequences of each genomic DNA region were aligned using MUSCLE 5 with the default settings. The alignments were then concatenated after ambiguously aligned regions were trimmed using TrimAL v1.2 with the automated1 option.
