Digital Competencies Mediating Human Resource Management and Digital Transformation in Small and Medium Enterprises
Description
This research data contains 272 valid responses collected from entrepreneurs working in small and medium-sized enterprises in Metropolitan Lima, Peru. Data were collected between April and June 2024 using a structured online questionnaire and a non-probability sampling approach combining convenience and snowball sampling. The study examined the relationships among Digital Human Resource Management, Digital Competencies, and Digital Transformation, with particular emphasis on the mediating role of Digital Competencies. The measurement instrument included five indicators for Digital Human Resource Management, four indicators for Digital Competencies, and five indicators for Digital Transformation. All construct indicators were measured using a five-point Likert scale. The public analytic data also include enterprise-size and demographic variables (gender, age, and academic degree). The completed empirical study applied partial least squares structural equation modeling using SmartPLS 4. The reported results support positive relationships between Digital Human Resource Management and Digital Competencies, Digital Competencies and Digital Transformation, and Digital Human Resource Management and Digital Transformation. Digital Competencies also showed a significant mediating role in the relationship between Digital Human Resource Management and Digital Transformation. The files are provided to facilitate replication, secondary analysis, methodological training, and comparative research on digital transformation and digital capabilities in small and medium-sized enterprises. No direct personal identifiers are included. A codebook accompanies the data and documents variable names, constructs, response coding, and measurement scales.

Steps to reproduce
The dataset contains 272 valid responses collected from entrepreneurs working in small and medium-sized enterprises in Metropolitan Lima, Peru. Data were collected through an online structured questionnaire between April and June 2024. The measurement model includes Digital Transformation (DT1–DT5), Digital Human Resource Management (DHRM1–DHRM5), and Digital Competencies (DC1–DC4), measured using a five-point Likert scale. To reproduce the analysis, import the CSV or XLSX file into SmartPLS 4 or compatible statistical software, define the three reflective constructs using their corresponding indicators, and estimate the measurement and structural models using PLS-SEM. Assess indicator loadings, internal consistency reliability, convergent validity, discriminant validity, direct effects, and the indirect mediating effect of Digital Competencies between Digital Human Resource Management and Digital Transformation. The accompanying codebook documents the variable structure and coding.
