Description

This dataset contains chemical (major and trace elements) and isotopic (Sr and Nd) analyses on whole rock, glassy matrix and minerals from the whole stratigraphic sequence of the Pomici Principali eruption (11,915-12,158 cal. yrs BP), one of the highest-magnitude eruptions of the Campi Flegrei caldera (South Italy) over the past 15 ka.

Steps to reproduce

Samples preparation was performed at the Laboratories of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), Osservatorio Vesuviano. Major and trace elements of whole rocks were analysed by inductively coupled plasma–atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP–MS). Major and minor elements content of minerals and glassy matrix were acquired by electron microprobe (EMP). Trace element analyses on glassy matrix were performed by Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). Sr–Nd isotopic composition of whole rocks, glassy matrix and minerals were determined by thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS). Details on the analytical techniques are reported in the text document.
