Description

This dataset contains the processed data used in the empirical analysis of the study entitled “From Urban Preference to Settlement: How Access to Public Healthcare Shapes the Residency Intentions of Rural Migrants in China.” The data are derived from the 2018 China Migrants Dynamic Survey (CMDS) and focus on rural migrants in urban China. The dataset includes variables measuring migrants’ residence intentions, access to public healthcare services, and relevant individual, household, employment, and migration characteristics. Public healthcare access is captured by urban medical insurance, health records, health education, and family doctor services. The data are used to examine whether access to public healthcare services is associated with stronger residence and settlement intentions among rural migrants and to investigate heterogeneity across age, educational attainment, occupational type, employment status, region, and city size. The processed dataset supports the descriptive statistics, baseline estimations, robustness checks, and heterogeneity analyses reported in the manuscript.
