Description

This registry of replication sources includes: 1) complete data inputs; and 2) matlab and STATA code for replication of all data constructions, empirical and estimation results and reproduction of all figures and tables in the publication of the same name as this replication registry.

Steps to reproduce

General Instructions -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please put all files in the replication package in the same folder. There are four types of files in the replication package: Excel files, Stata do files, Matlab m files, and Word files. You will need all files for the full replication: 1) readme.docx: repeats the contents of this template; 2) main replication files: main.do and main.m; 3) raw and constructed variables: main.xlsx; 4) plotting maps: worldcoor.dta; 5) loading data: loaddata.m and 6) auxiliary subroutines: epsclean.m; getpos.m; hatchfill2.m; legendflex.m. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Replication of figures in the paper ------------------------------------- Figure 1 - run part 1 of main.m Figure 2 - run part 2 of main.m Figure 3 - run part 3 of main.m Figure 4 - run part 4 of main.m Figure 5 - run part 5 of main.m; the inputs for plotting Figure 5 are in tabs “Simulation_graph(Data)”, “Simulation_graph(Model)”, “Simulation_graph(ModelLower)”, “Simulation_graph(ModelUpper)” of main.xlsx Figure 6 - run part 6 of main.m; the inputs for plotting Figure 6 and the detailed computation are in tab “Counterfactuals_new” of main.xlsx Replication of tables in the paper ------------------------------------ Table 1 - run tab “Prod_Trade_Data” of main.xlsx; results in tab “Prod_Trade_Result” Table 2 - run part III of tab “CTVD_BetaVD” of main.xlsx Table 3 - run tab “TA_wedges” of main.xlsx Table 4 - run part 1 of main.do for the BM case, run part 2 of main.do for the IV case, and run part 3 of main.do for the EUV case Table 5 - run part I and II of tab “CTVD_BetaVD” of main.xlsx Figures in the Technical Appendix (Not for Publication) ----------------------------------------------------------- Figure A1 - run part 7 of main.m Figure A2 - run part 4 of main.do Figure A3 - run part 6 of main.do Figure A4-A9 - run part 8 of main.m Figure A10-A11 - run part 7 of main.do Figure A12 - run part 8 of main.do Figure A13 - run part 9 of main.m; the inputs for plotting Figure A13 and the detailed computation are in tab “Counterfactuals_new” of main.xlsx Figure A14 - run part 10 of main.m; the inputs for plotting Figure A14 and the detailed computation are in tab “Counterfactuals_new” of main.xlsx Tables in the Technical Appendix (Not for Publication) ---------------------------------------------------------- Table A1 - it is data directly scrapped from the magazine, the Automotive Industries Table A2 - run part 5 of main.do Table A3 - run part 2 of main.do Table A4 - run part 2 of main.do Table A5 - run part 3 of main.do
