Description

In this study, we described an unexpected trans-kingdom interaction between bacteria and mammals, wherein bacteria contribute to mammalian host NAD biosynthesis through a microbial nicotinamidase (PncA). We used immuno-blotting technology to show the knockdown, deletion, or overexpression of different proteins in mammalian cells and further investigated the impact of these genetic manipulations on cellular NAD metabolism and cell survival.
