Description

This dataset provides the elemental chemical composition of 4 orthodontic miniimplas commonly used in Mexico: Dewimed®, Borgatta, Ormco™ and Forestadent®. . Ti6Al4V is the most common alloy used in miniimplants; so Ti, Al and V were semi-quantifed. An analysis of five miniimplants of each brand was performed. In each miniimplant, nine EDS were performed (three per area): head, neck and thread. A total of 45 EDS were obtained from each brand.

The elemental chemical composition was assessed by SEM (JEOL, JSM 5600-LV, Japan). Nine EDS were made for each sample, to complete a total of 45 EDS per group. The atomic percentages of each element (Ti, Al, V) were semi-quantified. Data was analyzed in SPSS version 20 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences; SPSS, Version 20, Chicago, IL, USA). Normal distribution was determined with Shapiro Wilks tests (p>0.05), thus parametric analysis was performed with ANOVA and pos hoc Tukey tests, (CI=0.05).
