Description

This dataset provides hourly concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and coarse particulate matter (PM2.5–10) measured at 25 air quality monitoring stations across Seoul, South Korea, from 2018 to 2023. Coarse PM concentrations were derived as the difference between co-located PM10 and PM2.5 measurements at each station. Each hourly record is identified by the administrative district in which the station is located (region, with region_abbr as its abbreviated label) and the observation timestamp (datetime), from which hour, month, and season indicators were extracted to enable temporally stratified analysis. The dataset also includes station-level residuals (PM2.5′ and PM2.5–10′), calculated by subtracting the citywide-averaged concentration at the same time step from each station's concentration. These values were used to characterize the size-dependent intra-urban spatial heterogeneity described in the associated publication. To enable analysis of the land-use and meteorological drivers of this local variability, each station is linked to the land-cover composition of its surrounding administrative district. Land cover is provided both as absolute area and as a fraction of the total district area, across twelve classes: public facilities, industrial, transportation facilities, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, commercial and business, and residential areas, together with forest, agricultural land, barren land, grass, wetland, and water. Concurrent hourly precipitation and wind speed data are also included to account for the influence of meteorological conditions on the local accumulation and dispersion of particulate matter.
