Bentonite in Portland-Cement-Based Systems: Screening and Evidence-Coding Data
Description
This dataset supports the review “Bentonite in Portland-Cement-Based Systems: A Scoping Review and Evidence Map of Engineering Performance Coverage and Research Gaps.” It contains the screening decisions and exclusion codes used to define the eligible literature corpus, the study-level evidence-coding matrix for 144 eligible studies, the keyword-harmonization record, and a coding dictionary describing the operational definitions used in evidence classification. The bibliographic search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection on 1 August 2026. The licensed original Web of Science export is not redistributed.

The bibliographic search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection on 1 August 2026 using the search strategy reported in the associated manuscript. After database-level document-type and English-language restrictions, 1,492 records entered screening. Records were screened against predefined eligibility criteria for bentonite in Portland-cement-based cementitious systems. Screening decisions and exclusion codes are provided in the screening workbook. The final corpus comprised 144 eligible studies. Evidence domains were coded from information explicitly reported in titles, keywords and abstracts using the operational definitions provided in the accompanying coding dictionary. The evidence-coding workbook contains the study-level classifications, while the keyword-harmonisation workbook documents the terminology used for bibliometric analysis.
