Description
KRONA is an interactive visualization tool for microbiome research that intuitively displays the taxonomic composition of microbial communities (at various levels such as phylum, class, genus, and species) through dynamic multi-layered pie charts, making complex taxonomic annotation data easily understandable. It can quickly reveal the distribution of dominant and rare microbial populations in samples, facilitating comparisons of microbial differences between different groups, and helping researchers rapidly identify dominant and rare species in samples.

Steps to reproduce
Krona visualization was used to generate interactive hierarchical charts of taxonomic composition. Taxonomic data (tab-indented classifications with abundances) were processed using KronaTools v2.8(https://github.com/marbl/Krona/releases) via ktImportText, producing an HTML-based radial tree. Each concentric ring represented a taxonomic level (phylum to species), with sector sizes proportional to abundances. The static version (Fig. 3) was exported as PNG for publication, while the interactive version was included in supplements.
