Dataset title Digitized split-dose survival data for a dynamic mathematical model of sub-lethal damage recovery Overview This dataset contains the experimental data points used for the main parameter fitting and for Figures 1 and 3 of the manuscript: Yuichiro Manabe, "A Dynamic Mathematical Model for Sub-Lethal Damage (SLD) Recovery: Integrating Recovery Processes into Multi-Target Theory to Visualize Damage States." The data were digitized from split-dose X-ray irradiation experiments on Chinese hamster V79 cells reported by Elkind and Sutton (1960). The interval labels indicate the recovery interval between the first and second irradiations. Original publication Elkind, M. M., and Sutton, H. (1960). Radiation Research, 13(4), 556-593. https://doi.org/10.2307/3570945 Data extraction Numerical values were manually digitized from Fig. 11 of the original publication using the Graph Digitizing System (GSYS), Hokkaido University Nuclear Reaction Data Centre. Because the values were digitized from a published figure rather than obtained from a numerical table, they are approximate. Files - data_0hour.csv: nonfractionated (0-h interval) experimental data. - data_150min.csv: split-dose experimental data with a 2.5-h (150-min) recovery interval. - data_23hour.csv: split-dose experimental data with a 23-h recovery interval. Columns - Dose_Gy: total X-ray dose in gray (Gy). - Survival_Fraction: dimensionless surviving fraction. Data format Each file is UTF-8 encoded, comma-separated, and contains one header row. Missing values are not present in these files. No personal or confidential information is included. Version note These CSV files reproduce the experimental points used in Figures 1 and 3 of the associated manuscript.

Steps to reproduce

Open the CSV files using spreadsheet or statistical-analysis software. Each row contains a total X-ray dose (Dose_Gy) and the corresponding surviving fraction (Survival_Fraction). Use data_0hour.csv for the nonfractionated condition, data_150min.csv for the 2.5-hour recovery interval, and data_23hour.csv for the 23-hour recovery interval. No preprocessing is required. To reproduce the presentation in Figures 1 and 3 of the associated manuscript, plot Survival_Fraction against Dose_Gy using a logarithmic y-axis.
