Description

Know Your Fats! is a game designed to raise public awareness about the role of lipids in health and disease. It was developed as part of the activities of Working Group 5 on Communication and Dissemination within the European COST Action EpiLipidNET (CA19105, https://www.epilipid.net/). While the Network was already highly active in disseminating experimental findings through scientific publications, there was a need for engaging materials to reach the general public during outreach events such as the European Researchers’ Night and other local and national initiatives. In particular, members of EpiLipidNET were eager to interact with children, and it was agreed that games would provide an entertaining and educational approach. As a result, a card memory game called Know Your Fats! was created. Know Your Fats! is a memory card game for 2 or more players, suitable for ages 6 to 99+. The objective is to match pairs of cards featuring identical images and text. The game can be played in SOLO mode, where players challenge themselves to find all the matches in the shortest possible time, or in MULTIPLAYER mode. In multiplayer mode, each player flips two cards per turn. If the two cards match, the player keeps the pair and takes another turn. If the cards do not match, they are turned face down again and the next player takes their turn. The game ends when all pairs have been matched. The player with the most pairs at the end of the game is the winner!
