Description

This dataset contains the complete simulation data, economic analysis, and sensitivity results supporting the research article on techno-economic comparison between cryogenic Air Separation Units (ASU) and solar-powered PV-PEM electrolysis for decentralized medical oxygen production. Files included: ASU.apw (3.92 MB): Aspen Plus V12 simulation file containing the rigorous steady-state model of the industrial-scale double-column cryogenic ASU (161,243 ton O₂/year). The file includes the complete process configuration with three-stage compression train, Main Heat Exchanger (MHE), High-Pressure Column (HPC) and Low-Pressure Column (LPC) with thermal coupling, and Product Heat Exchanger (PHE). Thermodynamic model: Peng-Robinson equation of state. datos ASU.xlsx (13.8 KB): Base case specifications and stream data from the converged Aspen Plus simulation. Contains mass flow rates, temperatures, pressures, and compositions for all process streams, including the oxygen product (18,406.7 kg/h, 99.79% purity) and nitrogen byproduct (76,365 kg/h, 99.5% purity). result economic.xlsx (9.86 KB): Economic evaluation results from Aspen Process Economic Analyzer (APEA). Includes Total Installed Capital Cost (CAPEX: $28,323,200 USD), annual Operating Cost (OPEX: $4,844,400 USD), equipment cost breakdown, and utility costs based on Ecuadorian industrial tariffs (electricity: $0.0775/kWh, cooling water: $0.03/ton). sensibilidad_asu.xlsx.xlsx (148 KB): Complete sensitivity analysis dataset with 776 converged simulation cases varying air feed flow rate from 25,820 to 104,271 kg/h. Contains calculated CAPEX, OPEX, and Levelized Cost of Oxygen (LCOO) for each case, demonstrating the power-law scaling relationship (LCOO = 3.3584 × Capacity^(-0.3276), R² > 0.99) and the thermodynamic convergence limit at ~51,736 ton/year.
