Knowledge Management Framework, Measurement Metrics, and Citation Functions: Communications and Multimedia Sector
Description
This dataset has been compiled through a bibliometric literature review of highly cited publications from 1995 to 2025 in the communications and multimedia (C&M) sector, complemented by insights from knowledge management (KM) experts. It is structured around a KM framework that categorises practices into five domains: Creation, Storage, Dissemination, Utilisation, and Potential/Advanced KM (the latter evolving once the foundational four domains are established). Building on this framework, a set of measurement metrics has been developed to align with each KM practice. These metrics specify indicators, classify the type of measure (process or result), outline the method of assessment (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method), and provide supporting justification. Additionally, citation function information is documented alongside KM practices to guide technical enhancements, particularly for KM systems. Overall, the dataset serves as a foundational reference for C&M organisations seeking to initiate, strengthen, or formalise their KM efforts, offering a practical starting point for organisational development.
