Description

This dataset provides the source data supporting the review ‘The Hidden Force: bacteriophages and the activation gap in Antarctic soils.’ The Excel workbook contains the merged bibliographic corpus used for the bibliometric analysis, including records retrieved through two Web of Science searches (114 and 75 records; 24 duplicates; 165 unique records), publication metadata, title–abstract concept coding, temporal groupings, semantic theme and habitat descriptors, and derived data used to prepare Figures 1–5 and Supplementary Figures S1–S2. The concept dictionary contains 30 non-exclusive categories; each concept contributes at most one occurrence per record. The dataset supports verification of the reported counts, percentages and visualizations. This review uses published literature and bibliographic metadata only and contains no human- or animal-subject data.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download and open Hidden_Force_Source_Data.xlsx. 2. Use the record identifiers and source-search fields to verify the merge of the two Web of Science searches and removal of 24 duplicate records, yielding 165 unique records. 3. Use the binary concept columns to reproduce the title–abstract frequency summaries; categories are non-exclusive and count each concept no more than once per record. 4. Calculate within-period percentages using the period totals 23 (1976–2010), 46 (2011–2017), 32 (2018–2021), and 64 (2022–2026). 5. Use the derived tables as source values for Figures 1–5 and Supplementary Figures S1–S2. The documented search strategy, definitions and interpretation rules are provided in Online Resource 1 of the associated manuscript. Analyses and figures were produced with Python 3.11 and the Bibliometrix R package 4.3.
