Enterprise Innovation under China’s Cleaner Production Standards: The Roles of Abatement Capacity and Government Subsidies

This dataset contains the replication package for the manuscript “Enterprise Innovation under China’s Cleaner Production Standards: The Roles of Abatement Capacity and Government Subsidies.” The package includes a synthetic pseudo-data set, Stata programs for the empirical analyses, a master file, and a README with detailed documentation. The underlying firm-level raw and analysis data are subject to third-party access and redistribution restrictions and therefore cannot be shared publicly. In accordance with the journal’s Non-Public Data requirement, the provided pseudo-data preserve the variable names and panel structure required by the code and, for the variables reported in Table 2, the original non-missing numbers of observations, means, and standard deviations. The replication programs are written for Stata 15 and generate the main tables, robustness analyses, heterogeneity results, and figures reported in the replication workflow. All results reported in the manuscript are based on the restricted original data.

Steps to reproduce
1. Download the replication package and extract all files to a local directory. 2. Open Stata 15 and set the working directory to the top-level replication folder containing master.do. 3. If the required user-written Stata packages are not already installed, run: do "Code/00_install_dependencies.do" 4. Run: do "master.do" 5. The master file first checks the supplied pseudo-data and then executes the programs for the main tables, robustness analyses, heterogeneity analyses, and figures. Generated results are saved under Output/Tables/, Output/Figures/, and Output/Audit/. Detailed information on the data, software dependencies, program structure, and correspondence between manuscript items and output files is provided in README.pdf.
