Description

This dataset presents survey responses from African small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as part of a study evaluating the effectiveness of sustainable practices and supply chain management (SCM) strategies. The survey aimed to investigate the adoption of sustainable practices, the implementation of SCM strategies, and their impact on African SMEs' operational and strategic outcomes. The survey data includes responses from SMEs across various African countries, providing insights into the region's diverse economic contexts and business environments. The dataset covers a range of topics, including: 1. Adoption of Sustainable Practices: Responses related to the integration of sustainable practices within SME operations, such as energy efficiency initiatives, waste reduction efforts, and adoption of eco-friendly production processes. 2. Implementation of SCM Strategies: Data on using SCM strategies within SMEs, including inventory management, logistics optimisation, supplier relationship management, and distribution channel optimisation. 3. Operational and Strategic Outcomes: Responses regarding the perceived impact of sustainable practices and SCM strategies on operational efficiencies, cost savings, revenue generation, market competitiveness, and overall business performance. 4. Stakeholder Support: Feedback on the level of stakeholder support for sustainable initiatives and SCM practices, including support from employees, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. The dataset allows for the quantitative analysis of the relationships between sustainable practices, SCM effectiveness, stakeholder support, and SME competitiveness. Researchers and practitioners interested in sustainable business practices, supply chain management, and SME development in African contexts can utilise this data to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating sustainability into SME operations. The dataset is anonymised to protect the confidentiality of participating SMEs and is suitable for statistical analysis and research purposes. Researchers are encouraged to explore it to advance knowledge in the fields of sustainable business practices and SME development in Africa.
