Calcite precipitation in fractured basalt: Dual-fracture core (low flow rate)
Description
This dataset provides X-ray computed tomography (CT) images of a dual-fractured (DF) basalt core acquired during the injection of a solution supersaturated with respect to calcite. The overall study employed core-flooding tests using single-fractured (SF) and dual-fractured (DF) basalt cores under four flow conditions: 1 mL/min (SF_LF), 2 mL/min (DF_LF), 5 mL/min (SF_HF), and 10 mL/min (DF_HF). These experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of flow rate and fracture configuration on porosity evolution, fracture–matrix interactions, and mineral precipitation patterns. The present image set contains the baseline scan and post-precipitation scans acquired at different injection times during the DF_LF experiment conducted at 2 mL/min. The DF_LF images have an in-plane voxel size of 48.7 microns and a slice spacing of 41.1 microns.
