Description

Dataset supporting the study “ENSO Hydroclimatic Forcing Controls Sediment Geochemistry and Hydrosedimentary Dynamics in a Lithium-Mining Basin of Southeastern Brazil – The Piauí River”: Grain-size data - Grain-size distribution data for sediment samples collected in the Piauí River basin, determined using a 63 μm threshold for the fine fraction. Geochemical data - Elemental concentration data obtained by energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), including Li concentrations. Streamflow and ENSO data - Streamflow data from the CBL gauging station (ID 54540000) for 2005–2019 (ANA/HidroWeb), complemented by field measurements conducted in 2022 and 2023, with information on the La Niña (2022) and El Niño (2023) periods. Geoaccumulation index (Igeo) - Calculated Igeo values for the analyzed elements under the contrasting hydroclimatic conditions. Contamination factor (CF) - Calculated contamination factor values for the investigated sediment samples. Pollution Load Index (PLI) - Calculated pollution load index values for the investigated sampling sites. The dataset supports the evaluation of relationships among hydroclimatic variability, sediment transport, grain-size distribution, sediment geochemistry, elemental enrichment, and contamination in a lithium-mining basin.
