Description

This data set includes local field potential recordings, obtained from the mPFC, midline thalamus and the hippocampus of head-fixed cats during natural sleep/wake cycles. Recordings were obtained using stainless-steel electrodes or high-impedance tetrodes constructed out of 12.5 micron wires. We observed high-amplitude bursts of gamma activity (~40 Hz), phase-locked to a 1-Hz respiration-related potential during wakefulness but not during NREM or REM sleep. Gamma bursts were coherent across the mPFC-thal-hipp network.
