Description

This data records that tribal primary teacher in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya experience moderate stress levels. The demographic profile such as age, salary range, years of experience, and types of schools did not determine any change in stress levels. In all the factors, primary teachers reported moderate stress levels. The strategies that are used by teachers are limited to a few like physical work, hiking, listening to music, playing games, exercise, social support, and communication with parents. More strategies are found in the data and will be presented in a complete form after the completion of the doctoral study from which this paper was drawn from. The Traditional forms of recreation have been identified as a medium to help in stress reduction among the teachers. Community elders responded that the traditional forms of recreation do play a role in relaxing the mind and in reducing stress.
