Description

NVIVO Project Description for Discourse Analysis on Modern Regional Politics in Russia Overview This project investigates the discourse surrounding modern regional politics in Russia during Vladimir Putin's tenure from 2008 to 2020. Utilizing NVIVO software, the research focuses on speeches by influential Russian political figures cited by pro-Putin media. Data Sources and Analysis The data sources include articles from newspapers and online platforms, ranging from one-page to half-page formats, containing three to six columns, and word counts between 500 to 1000 words. The unit of analysis is the topic or theme within each article, with translations and coding by the researcher, proficient in both Russian and English. The project encompasses over 700 speeches, processed using an inductive method to discover themes, categorized in NVIVO as a hierarchy of subcodes and codes aggregated into larger themes. Additionally, a comprehensive description of the sources, a logical map of the sources, and detailed descriptions of codes, subcodes, and themes are included in the document titled "Appendix_Sources & Themes."
