Description

This dataset supports the manuscript “Reassessing isospin-resolved decay of the ³¹P giant dipole resonance: covariance-aware channel competition and cascade closure from archival γ-X-γ′ data.” It contains source-transcribed archival numerical values used in the quantitative reanalysis, including reaction thresholds, state-resolved proton and neutron partial strengths, transmission-factor values, derived machine-readable summary quantities, and the deterministic Python script used to reproduce the reported calculations and figures. The deposit does not contain new experimental measurements, synthetic experimental observations, event-level raw spectra, detector-response matrices, photon-flux logs, or original covariance matrices. Missing values in the archival source tables are retained as missing and are not imputed as zero. The historical experiment and its provenance are identified in the associated manuscript through the cited 1987 publication and EXFOR record. README_REPRODUCIBILITY.txt documents the reproducibility workflow; DATA_DICTIONARY.txt defines the tabulated variables; SOFTWARE_ENVIRONMENT.txt records the validated software environment; and MANIFEST_SHA256.txt provides file-integrity hashes. The Python workflow performs deterministic numerical reanalysis and figure generation from the deposited tabulated values.

Files

Steps to reproduce

Keep all deposited files in the same directory. The validated environment is Python 3.13.5 with NumPy 2.3.5, pandas 2.2.3, Matplotlib 3.10.8, and Pillow for RGB/LZW TIFF output. From that directory, run: python reanalysis_and_figures_31P.py The workflow requires no network access and uses no random-number generator. It reads the deposited CSV files from the same directory, performs deterministic numerical self-checks, rewrites reanalysis_summary.json, creates a Figures/ directory for the main publication figures, and creates a Supplementary/ directory for Supplementary Figure S1. Execution stops with an assertion error if the frozen input tables or validated numerical results differ unexpectedly. The deposited inputs represent source-transcribed archival numerical values, not new experimental measurements. Missing tabulated strengths remain missing and are not imputed as zero. The source-reported interval for the 2.72 MeV neutron entry remains an interval, and state-resolved strengths measured at 140° remain angular quantities. See README_REPRODUCIBILITY.txt, DATA_DICTIONARY.txt, and SOFTWARE_ENVIRONMENT.txt for the scientific boundary, variable definitions, validated outputs, and software details. File integrity can be checked against MANIFEST_SHA256.txt.
