Description

The present work presents an analysis of the combined gas-steam cycles from a thermodynamic point of view, in the design of the modern Electric Power Plants currently used in the world. As an example of calculation reference, the application to the 720 MW Power Plant of Puerto Bravo installed in the city of Mollendo-Arequipa, part of the South of Peru Energy Node, is evaluated. This Electric Thermo Central works in a simple cycle, expandable to a combined cycle when natural gas arrives through the pipeline. All the parameters involved in the basic calculation of the projected cycle have been taken in a combined manner, presenting the updated improvements in the modern Plants that are currently being installed. The Equation Enginnering Solver Program (EES) is used as a calculation tool, for the development of this work, this Program allows to manage the variables that are presented in the design of the Combined Cycle Power Plants from the simplest (one level of pressure) even the most sophisticated (three pressure levels with intermediate reheat). The EES Program introduces the parameters that are involved in the calculation in such a way as to search for optimal operating conditions, visualizing the behavior of the thermodynamic variables, the temperature profiles as well as the graphs that will be used for the analysis of the Plant. This work constitutes a first step in the study of Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plants for electrical generation, based on thermodynamic analysis
