Multi-temporal datasets of the ecological network in the Wuhan Metropolitan Area

Description

This study is based on a comprehensive multi-source geospatial dataset, aiming to explore the multi-temporal change characteristics of the ecological network in the Wuhan Metropolitan Area and the driving mechanisms of extreme weather events. 1. The land use/land cover data utilizes the China Land Cover Dataset (CLCD) for three periods: 2004, 2014, and 2024. The spatial resolution is 30 meters, covering the entire Wuhan Metropolitan Area. This dataset includes nine land cover types: farmland, forest land, shrub land, grassland, water bodies, wetlands, impervious surfaces, bare land, and snow and ice. The data is sourced from the Google Earth Engine platform of Wuhan University, in the original GeoTIFF format (single band), with the coordinate system being WGS84 (EPSG: 4326). 2. To investigate the impact of extreme climatic conditions, surface water data for both a normal hydrological year (2018) and a drought year (2019) were obtained from the Google Earth Engine platform. These two sets of data facilitate a comparative analysis of wetland dynamics and ecological network resilience under varying precipitation conditions. 3. The vegetation index data, Sentinel-2 NDVI (Normalized Vegetation Index), is derived from B8 (near-infrared) and B4 (red) bands, with a spatial resolution of 1 kilometer. The NDVI data is obtained through the Resource and Environmental Science and Data Platform and provided in GeoTIFF (single-band) format, with the coordinate system being WGS84. 4. The terrain data, a 30-meter resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM), is sourced from the ASTGTM2 product (Geospatial Data Cloud) and is used to characterize terrain conditions. The data is provided in GeoTIFF format (single band) with the coordinate system being WGS84. 5. The road network data for the year 2004 was sourced from the Geofabrik annual snapshot, while the road vector data for 2014 and 2024 was extracted from the OpenStreetMap (OSM) Planet data snapshot. The dataset includes attribute fields such as road class, name, speed limit, and number of lanes. The original OSM PBF format was converted and output in Shapefile (.shp) format, with the coordinate system being WGS84. 6. The administrative boundary data, including provincial and municipal administrative boundary vector data, is sourced from the Resource and Environmental Science Data Center. The data is provided in Shapefile format, with the coordinate system being CGCS2000 / 3° CM 114E (EPSG: 4546).
