SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS OF GLASS IONOMER CEMENT MODIFIED WITH LOCALLY EXTRACTED CHITOSAN FROM LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI SHELLS
Description
This dataset contains the physicochemical characterization and mechanical/surface degradation data supporting the study "Surface Characteristics of Glass Ionomer Cement Modified with Locally Extracted Chitosan from Litopenaeus vannamei Shells: An In Vitro Study Under Artificial Saliva Immersion." Twenty-seven cylindrical specimens of GC Fuji IX Extra glass ionomer cement were prepared in three groups (n = 9 per group): unmodified control, GIC + 5% v/v chitosan, and GIC + 10% v/v chitosan, using chitosan extracted from Litopenaeus vannamei (Pacific white shrimp) shells. Specimen dimensions, baseline and post-immersion mass, solubility, Vickers microhardness, and surface roughness (Ra) were measured before and after 7-day immersion in AFNOR artificial saliva at 37°C. The dataset is provided as an SPSS (.sav) file, with variables corresponding to group assignment, specimen geometry, mass loss, solubility, microhardness, and surface roughness at baseline and post-immersion time points.
