Pastors’ Self-Sacrificial Leadership, Team–Member Exchange, Perceived Pastoral Competence, and Organizational Embeddedness in Korean Protestant Churches

This dataset contains the anonymized research data used in the study entitled “Pastors’ Self-Sacrificial Leadership and Congregants’ Organizational Embeddedness in Korean Protestant Churches: The Mediating Role of Team–Member Exchange and the Moderating Role of Perceived Pastoral Competence.” The study examines the relationship between pastors’ self-sacrificial leadership and congregants’ organizational embeddedness in Korean Protestant churches, with team–member exchange (TMX) as a relational mediator and perceived pastoral competence (PPC) as a moderator. A three-wave time-lagged research design with approximately four-week intervals was employed. Self-sacrificial leadership and perceived pastoral competence were measured at Time 1, team–member exchange at Time 2, and organizational embeddedness at Time 3. The final analytical sample consisted of 303 adult congregants. The dataset includes the focal measurement items for self-sacrificial leadership, perceived pastoral competence, team–member exchange, and organizational embeddedness, together with demographic control variables used in the analyses. All personally identifiable information has been removed. The accompanying codebook provides information on variable names, constructs, measurement timing, response scales, coding, and measurement sources.

Steps to reproduce
Data were collected using a three-wave time-lagged survey design with approximately four-week intervals. Self-sacrificial leadership and perceived pastoral competence were measured at Time 1, team–member exchange at Time 2, and organizational embeddedness at Time 3. The final analytical sample consisted of 303 adult congregants. The accompanying codebook provides variable definitions, coding information, measurement timing, and scale information. Statistical analyses were conducted using StataNow 19.5 BE.
