Dataset of assessment of the water quality index of the Doslyk canal, Nukus, Karakalpakstan
Description
The primary objective of this study is to track variations in seasonal water quality in the Doslyk Canal using the Water Quality Index (WQI) approach. For this purpose, two different sampling locations were used to calculate WQI for the period January to December 2023. The samples were analyzed for various physicochemical parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand BOD5, turbidity, color, fluoride ions, total hardness, alkalinity in different seasons (winter, spring, summer and autumn). The analyzed results (by WQI method) were used to propose water quality prediction models. The water quality index for the surface water of the canal was recorded as 125.65 during the winter season, 125.85 during the spring season, 86.95 during the summer season, and 40.07 during the autumn season. In the course of this study, it was found that the water quality of the Doslyk canal is poor in the winter and autumn seasons, and good in the summer and autumn seasons.
