Description

This dataset compiles methane (CH₄) cycling parameters from peer-reviewed studies of global lake ecosystems, with emphasis on high-latitude thermokarst and yedoma lakes. Key parameters include methane concentrations (CCH₄), actual/potential methanotrophic rates, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), oxygen (O₂), carbon dioxide (CO₂), O₂/CH₄ ratios, and associated metadata (ecosystem type, climate, season, lake depth, etc.). Data spans diverse lake types (thermokarst, glacial, boreal) and latitudes, supporting comparative analyses of methane production, oxidation, and emission drivers. Compiled to contextualize methane dynamics in thawing permafrost lakes (e.g., yedoma systems) under climate change.
