Description

These files include all the data presented as figures and graphs and discussed in the related manuscript, needed to understand and evaluate the reported research. A total of 134 core tops from the Western Mediterranean Sea and 15 from the adjacent Atlantic Ocean, west of the Strait of Gibraltar, were analysed for geochemical and sedimentological parameters. The datasets include information on sample locations and coring devices employed for sample retrieval, geochemical (radiocarbon content, organic carbon and planktic foraminifera ages, 210Pb-excess, organic carbon and nitrogen content, carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes) and sedimentological parameters (mean grain size, grain-size fractions relative abundance, and mineral surface area). The employed methodology to adquire this data is described in the corresponding section of the manuscript.
