Abundance and seasonal distribution of phlebotomines collected using mini-CDC light traps at ground and canopy levels in a forest environment. The dataset includes river level and meteorological data recorded from September 2011 to December 2012 in Puerto Antequeras, Chaco.

Steps to reproduce

To determine the spatial and temporal distribution pattern of the phlebotomine sandflies population in forest, two sampling sites were selected (A, B). The extradomicile ecotope, located in forested areas close to households, consisted of three sampling sites, each 100 m apart (EI-EIII). Six mini-CDC light traps (Sudia and Chamberlain, 1962) were installed per month. These traps were operated from 7 pm to 7 am, providing a total of 12 hours of night-time attraction. Two traps were placed in each tree, with parallel trapping at the base (1 CDC at 1.5 m from the ground) and the canopy (1 CDC at 10 m from the ground). All traps were activated for one night per month.
