Data for: Climate Anxiety in Ukraine - Emotion-Specific Pathways

This dataset accompanies the manuscript "Loud in Action, Muted in Well-Being: Emotion-Specific Pathways of Climate Anxiety in Ukraine." It includes two files: (1) raw, item-level responses to all psychometric scales administered to Ukrainian adult participants (climate emotions, pro-environmental behavior, positive and negative affect, satisfaction with life, and related measures), and (2) processed data containing the computed composite scale scores used in the structural equation modeling analyses reported in the manuscript. No directly identifying information (e.g., names, contact details) is included.

Steps to reproduce

Data were collected via an anonymous online survey (Google Forms) from Ukrainian adults recruited through non-probability snowball sampling, March–April 2024. Participants completed established and study-specific psychometric scales assessing climate emotions, pro-environmental behavior, and subjective well-being. Raw item-level responses (data_raw.csv) were aggregated into composite scale scores (data.csv) by averaging/summing items per scale. The composite scores were then used to estimate five parallel multiple-mediator structural equation models in R (lavaan), with climate anxiety as predictor, the seven emotions as simultaneous mediators, and 95% bootstrapped confidence intervals for indirect effects. Data collection was part of a broader dissertation project; only the variables relevant to the present manuscript were analyzed here.
