Benchmark dataset of titer, productivity, and technology readiness level (TRL) for 32 exogenous-substrate terpenoid biotransformation routes
Description
Companion dataset to the review "Biotransformation of Terpenoids into High-Value Flavor Compounds: Enzymatic Mechanisms, Engineering Strategies, and a Technology Readiness Assessment". The dataset benchmarks 32 exogenous-substrate terpenoid biotransformation routes against three unified criteria: maximum titer, volumetric productivity, and technology readiness level (TRL). For each route it records the target product, the substrate and conversion step, the catalytic system configuration (whole cells, isolated enzymes, in vitro cascades, or process-intensified systems), the highest titer reported in the literature, the volumetric productivity where available, the assigned TRL, and the source publication(s). All values were extracted from peer-reviewed literature; no new experimental data were generated. Only one route (sclareol to sclareolide, R20) has reached industrial maturity (TRL 7-9); all remaining routes remain at TRL 3-4. Column definitions, TRL criteria, and data provenance are documented in the accompanying README.txt.

Steps to reproduce
All values were extracted from the peer-reviewed literature cited in the Key_references column of the CSV. For each route, the maximum titer reported in the source publication was recorded; where a source reported a range, the maximum value was taken. Volumetric productivity was recorded only where explicitly reported and is marked "n.d." otherwise. TRL was assigned using the biomanufacturing readiness framework described in the companion review (TRL 3-4 = laboratory-scale validation; TRL 7-9 = industrial maturity). No experimental procedure applies, as no new data were generated.
