Exploratory Assessment of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) Concerning Climate Change Adaptation, Energy Efficiency, and Conservation in Tanzania

This dataset contains responses from N=314 consenting participants from a Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) exploratory survey study concerning energy and climate change in Tanzania. The data includes socio-demographics, knowledge of climate change and energy sources, attitudes towards conservation, and self-reported practices related to energy use and climate adaptation.

Steps to reproduce
The data was collected using structured questionnaire, developed to assess and quantify the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) in Tanzania. This exploratory data was collected under the research Permit No. CST00001309-2025-2025-00793, issued by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) on July 2025 (Attached). The questionnaire was designed in English and then translated into Swahili with the help of a team at Dar es salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) Songwe Campus fluent in both languages. To disseminate the questionnaire, an online link shared with the setting to allow one response per device, and a separate cloned project with identical questions was prepared to enter data collected from face to face interviews by trained enumerators. The KoboToolbox digital platform was used to capture and store data. The questionnaire included a participant consent section, once they agree to participate, then questions would open. Questions were divided into five thematic sections which are Demographic Information, KAP on Climate Change, KAP on Energy Efficiency, KAP on Energy Conservation, and General Energy and Learning (See attached Attached Data_Dictionary_n_Codebook.pdf). A csv file of these data was exported from KoboToolbox.
