Description

This dataset supports the data article titled "Complete mitochondrial genome data of Cephalopachus bancanus saltator Elliot, 1910 (Primates: Tarsiidae)" This dataset presents the first complete mitochondrial genome of Cephalopachus bancanus saltator, an endangered subspecies endemic to Belitung Island, Indonesia. Tissue samples were obtained from the Bukit Peramun Biodiversity Park in Air Selumar, Belitung Island. Genomic DNA was extracted using the DNeasy Blood & Tissue Kit (Qiagen, Valencia, CA) and sequenced on the Illumina NovaSeq X platform (PE150). Raw reads were trimmed for adapters and quality-filtered using BBDuk. Subsequently, the filtered reads were mapped to the reference genome via Bowtie2 for mitogenome assembly. The mitogenome is 16,933 bp in length (GenBank Accession Number: QB042746) with a coverage depth of 2,921.0X and a high AT content (60.99%). Genome annotation using MITOS2 identified 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and an AT-rich non-coding control region. The Bayesian Inference (BI) phylogenetic analysis using the GTR+I+G substitution model, confirmed that C. bancanus saltator forms a monophyletic clade with C. bancanus (Genbank: NC_002811) and serves as the sister group to the Philippine tarsier (Carlito syrichta). This dataset expands the availability of Tarsiidae genomic references in public databases, supporting comparative phylogenomic analysis, evolutionary modeling, and conservation genetic management of the western tarsier. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence reported in this dataset has been deposited in NCBI GenBank under the accession number QB042746 (URL: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nuccore/QB042746).
